1965 microbus

Postby Karmann16v » Apr 5th, 2012, 12:20 pm

Well i am about to start working on my 1965 vw microbus again after a 1.5 year break. We moved and I built a new garage and have been sharing time with numerous other projects.
Before I begin work again i thought I'd start a build thread here for those interested. I am going to start uploading pictures from the begining when i purchased the bus from Aircooled (Froggy) in 2001 and show the progress from there. I dont have pictures of everything i did so there will be some jumps in the progress.

here we go. June 2001

Its now December 2001 and I have made some progress. Most of the exterior is bare metal.

the front dog leg still has paint. it will be replaced as will pretty much all of the bottom 8 inches of this bus. that drivers door was the best panel on the bus. that filler was removed and dent pulled a little more and filled again with MY filler. I dont fill on bare steel only on epoxy primed surfaces (roughed up a bit)

Nice work Jeff. This is around the point where I lost my garage and put mine outside for a few years before I gave it away.

I remember those wheels! I used to rock them on my first mk2 and again on my mk3 golf. Bus is looking good Mr. Lutz!

Jon there is a mk2 jetta with small bumpers behind Legge's garage in Heart's Content. I'll check em out next time I go to the cabin if you like.
