VOGN 2.0

Postby lew » Sep 8th, 2010, 8:13 pm

This is sorta going to be a VOGN 2.0 build thread, that way you can hound me for updates and with ideas and I might actually kinda feel bad for slacking

I finally got around to creating a dev server and backing up the live DB and restoring to the dev server.

Here is a glimpse of VOGN 2.0 in the very early dev stage.

As you can see the new registration page now has the question to help cut down on spam.

Long time coming but...some updates.

Decided to build a faster, more like "production" web server using linux. Got that going and decided to tweak a few minor things as well as get the brother going on graphics...

removed the style picker from the top
firsttoptweak.JPG

also removed time zone info and extra line from bottom

I'm a little more motivated to do this type of work lately, lets hope I can keep this going.

next is add banners...

I agree with stickers matching the new logo, especially where it has "volkswagen owners group of newfoundland" written underneath, explains what the VOGN stands for, for those people unaware.

New site is going to be amazing, I can't grasp how you can even do this work...well done.

How big would they need to be to get all that lettering underneath.

Nice job Lewis, but I gotta say the theme/colour scheme kinda suffers the same problems as the vortex. Layout and design seem pretty great but the borderless, white-space background makes it a little hard to focus on things. This is exacerbated by the low-contrast, small, grey text.

Any chance we could darken the text colour and bump the font size a point or two?

I love the top bar and the new logo though. Definitely need new stickers soon. :D

Maybe I don't understand what your saying but there is a border and the text contrast looks fine to me. Could it be your monitor? Becasue its not mine (I've used 4 different ones, & my primary is fully calibrated for photo editing).

Who's on the tshirt train? I want one. I'm gonna say that the Dubfest tshirts don't fit the best after they're washed! Maybe different shirts this time? Russell?

We'll put you in charge of that Prospect when you get back in Terra Neuve for a few weeks. That way you can get your swag before you hit the high seas again. We'll get a thread going for this when the time comes.

Well Fenny hit dry land about 4 hours ago and there's been a few dry bottles lying in front of him since. I don't mind being in charge of tshirts, I prefer to have some decisions about what the public wants. I'd like to deliver something would be appealing to the masses so when it comes time I'll try to get a few designs together to see what people think.

Working offshore doesn't always enable me to be part of the production process as much as I'd want so I might have to be only a consultant. We'll see. Excited for '11 dubshow season.
