Congrats George. Take good care of it and I will take it off your hands in 10-12 years time. By that time the old Cherokee should be ready to retire from winter duty lol

Shane Sullivan got a mk4 jetta tdi. Previously Mazda protégé. Bit the bullet a day bought the jetta for the fuel economy, haven't regretted it yet and don't plan on looking back. First vw and loving it. I'm 27 telecommunications technician, live in St. John's.

Hey Folks,

My name is Carl and I've been a VW fan since I first rented a base Golf in '96. I've owned a '96 Golf CL 5 spd, a MKIV 2005 Jetta GLS 1.8T 5 spd in Gallactic Blue (sold it 2 yrs ago and regretted it), and I just bought a 2001 Jetta 1.8T Wolfsburg (5 spd) as a family second car (my son just got his license last week and he's pretty stoked about the Jetta). I know a few of you (used to work at Future Shop with Lewis) but don't know your usernames. I work in car sales, but not VW, oddly enough...

I know a few things, but I am only just starting to become a gearhead and would absorb any info and help I can get! For example, there are a couple of rust spots on the 2001 that I'm trying to take care of. I've sanded them down, primed, painted, and clear coated all with spray cans from Finish Line Sales, however, I can't seem to get a nice glossy finish (or even somewhat glossy lol). I would LOVE to repaint the whole car and even possibly change the colour, but paying $4000 for an allover paint job just isn't going to happen! Any suggestions? Also, I would like to chip the Jetta. Are there any ECU programmers in Newfoundland?

I hope to see everyone around town soon!

Welcome Macman.

To answer your paint question painting touch-up spots is not easy to get a good finish. In order to get a nice clear finish you may need to wet sand the clear and polish it. Sometimes depending on brands of clear coat you have to hit the coats just before the one before it dries. If you have a couple coats of clear on there try wet sanding it with a super fine grit and then hit it with some polish and wax and see how it turns out.

WRT tuners a few of the MK4 and MK5 guys on here should be able to help you with that and lead you in the right direction. Emkayfour, Karl, Fenny, Revlimiter to name a few should be able to help. The organizers of the Dubshow have brought in a tuner from NS in the past depending on interest. Hit Col. Mustard or Aucoin up for info on that.

Hello All,

My name is Ed, I just joined the club. I've always been into cars, trucks and even boats. Right now I am driving a 2005 Golf TDI. Its my 3rd VW, I had an 84 diesel Jetta (non-turbo), I loved that car...I also had a 92 Jetta TDI, but it was a POS, and needs no further mention, as well as a 95 Audi 90, I loved that car too. I also have an 85 Merkur XR4Ti, a 29 model A and a sailboat, but neither of them actually run, and the boat doesn't float. I would love to post some pictures but I have no idea how. I'm not exactly computer savvy, which is probably why most of my cars are older than I am. Anyway I just wanted to say Hi, and hopefully I'll make it out to some meets now.

Cheers

Hey Guys

My name is Ryan Hayward I am 27 and I am new to VW and driving for the matter (license for the last 3 months), I joint purchased a 2003 MK4 Golf CL 2.0L 5 Speed 165K, last week with a friend. We are in the process of getting it back on the road. She required normal repairs (brake pads, rotors, front shocks, and a new base pan) it also required some unique parts (hood, bumper cover, mirrors and shifter) we got most of those parts at the u-pick, we are still in the process of locating a bumper cover. I am looking forward to being part of VOGN and hope to purchase more VWs in the future.

Cheers,

Ryan :D

Hey Ryan,

Have you checked A1 for the bumper cover? I know most of the cars are at the wreckers due to front ent collisions, but A1 has a bunch of VW's in stock with all kinds of good parts.

Hi everyone,

I've been a lurker on this site for a while, but wanted to do a proper introduction. I don't own a VW, but my first car was a 1985 cabby, and I grew up doing a lot of camping in a westy. For those that know me, know I am a die hard bimmer fan, but I have some love left for the VWs too. I really enjoy the Dub Show, and hope to bring my cars out again this summer.

I'll introduce the cars in order of age:

1996 328i vert. Factory hardtop, Bilstien PSS coilovers, borla exhaust, m LSD, projector headlights, vader seats, BBS RC90 wheels
Image

1990 325 Touring. 1995 m3 engine and transmission, AC Schnitzer Type1 wheels and suspension, period correct recaro seats, borla exhaust, Torsen LSD, bavauto strut brace, Kamotors CAI, Markert Motorwerks tune, Mtech II wheel recovered in alcantara (310mm Wilwood BBk soon to be installed).
Image

1987 325is. Mtech II rear bumper, Mtech I steering wheel, hounds-tooth cloth interior, (mtech I rear spoiler, z3 SSK, and formuling fender wind splitters to be installed)
Image

1976 2002. Nardi mahogany steering wheel, 1940s OEM BMW mahogany shift knob, white e30 bottlecap wheels, Hella 500 driving and fog lamps.
